Listen closely, look attentively, feel, smell and taste – experience the world of centuries-old culinary arts! Participants of the family cooking workshops will discover the secrets of cooking from past centuries and sample dishes they prepare themselves, all richly seasoned with historical knowledge. During the meetings we will explore a chosen topic from the history of culinary arts, guided by our senses. We invite you to 5 themed sessions (you can join the whole series or attend individual meetings): 15 February 2026, 11:00 | Sounds of the old kitchen Brzdęk, rustle, hiss, splash, crack or bubbling are just some of the sounds that came from an old kitchen or a black chamber. During the workshop, using the sense of hearing, we will learn about old kitchen tools and travel back to times when everyone knew what a firlejka, rzeszoto and sagan were used for. There will be hands-on cooking practice and tasting of dishes prepared by participants. 15 March 2026, 11:00 | Grains within reach Grains, groats, bread and flour products were the basis of the human diet for centuries. Reach out to touch ears full of valuable grains. In the meeting we will use the sense of touch and feel on our own skin the differences between flours and groats from rye, old wheat varieties, oats, barley, millet or buckwheat. Stories from the fields, mills and bakeries will be crowned by family cooking followed by a shared meal. 26 April 2026, 11:00 | See you in the meadow! Let’s travel back to times when the spring meadow played as important a role as the pantry. That’s where you could find the first wild edible plants. But to gather them you need keen eyesight and careful observation! During the meeting we will learn to recognize selected species and find out what the appearance of plants indicated about their use. Then we will cook together two dishes using, among other things, wild herbs collected by hand. 20 September 2026, 11:00 | The taste of forgotten vegetables and fruits Autumn brings an abundance of vegetable and fruit harvests. During the workshop we will taste those hardest to find in today’s diet. How did sugar roots, snakehead or kardy taste and whether old fruits were tastier than today’s – we will find out by tasting and cooking together according to old Polish recipes. 13 December 2026, 11:00 | The most precious scents in the kitchen Discover the aromas of royal dishes and the favorite spices of old master cooks. Some of them became our everyday meal additions, others fell out of culinary use and found application in perfumery. Exceptional and intense aromas were an inseparable element of important ceremonies and holidays and served many surprising functions. Fragrant spices will also be the main theme of cooking and the shared meal.
