Freedom, passion and the destructive power of obsession – these are the emotions and states in which the audience will be immersed in this new interpretation of the legendary drama “CARMEN”. Gianni Melfi’s production, to the music of Georges Bizet, is a spectacle balancing on the border between classical ballet, dance theatre and contemporary dance. “CARMEN” – a story that has fascinated and moved audiences for generations – returns in a new form to the Warsaw stage. This interpretation brings out entirely different meanings from the legendary drama. The production, choreographed by Gianni Melfi with music by Georges Bizet, escapes the traditional frames of classical ballet, combining elements of contemporary dance and dance theatre. It is a tale of freedom and passion, but also of obsession, violence and their dramatic consequences. The story of Carmen, a sensual and independent woman, here takes on the dimension of a manifesto – it does not romanticize violence but shows its destructive power. It is a voice in an important discussion about women’s experiences facing oppression and toxic relationships. In the title role will appear Chinara Alizade – First Soloist of the Polish National Ballet, an artist endowed with extraordinary stage charisma who creates Carmen as a free and magnetic heroine, while tragically entangled in a story of oppression. Beside her will be Patryk Walczak as Don José – until recently First Soloist of the Polish National Ballet, a man whose love turns into obsession and leads to tragedy. “CARMEN” is a timeless story presented with new strength and sensitivity. A production that delights visually and moves emotionally, asking difficult questions about love, obsession and freedom. Attention! Performances take place at the following times: 15.00; 20.00 The event is organized by L2L – https://www.live2listen.com.
