What is a Ball? - A Ball is a performative celebration of ballroom culture, where dance, fashion, and charisma come together. Participants compete in different categories for trophies, moving to the rhythms of vogue, house, and techno. Ballroom Culture - Ballroom culture was born out of the need for safety and community. Created in the 1960s and 70s by Black and Latinx trans women, it became a home for trans, queer, and BIPOC communities. Voguing, which flourished in the 1980s, is now one of its most recognizable symbols worldwide.
