Workshop: Moorish Tiles from A to Z – Plaster Molds and Linear Relief Program: DAY I – The heart of the craft (Saturday, 11.04, 11:00–15:30) - Mini-lecture: You will learn the history of the Arista/Cuenca technique and the mathematical beauty of Islamic geometry. - Practice: You will learn how to mix plaster (ratios, setting) and make your own plaster mold. - Making: You will carve a linear relief into the mold based on historical patterns and press your own tile in it. DAY II – The magic of color separation (Sunday, 12.04, 11:00–14:00) - Arista technique: You will learn how to apply glazes so that colors do not mix, creating perfectly clean borders. - Tools: I will show you work with a brush and a bottle to achieve the color intensity reminiscent of southern Spain. Skills for years: You will learn to make your own molds, which is key to independent ceramic work. Relaxation and mindfulness: Working with rhythmic ornament is a form of meditation; it helps release tension and provides creative satisfaction. Everything included: Materials, firing, a mold to take home, and even refreshments and drinks.
