Why will we never experience truly bird music? Why don’t butterflies have ears? Join short solo percussion concerts by Hubert Zemler featuring pieces by Steve Reich, Cornelius Cardew and Tom Johnson, among others. And since, contrary to common opinion, music also — and perhaps above all — serves thinking, we’ll talk a little about what we hear. Make yourself at home in the universe of the ear. About the performer: Hubert Zemler – a Polish percussionist, composer and improviser, one of the most distinctive figures of the contemporary improvised, jazz and experimental music scene in Poland. He is known for a characteristic sonoristic approach to percussion, in which he combines traditional playing with prepared instruments, percussive objects and extended techniques. duet CEL (with Felix Kubin) trio Ben Bekele (with Kamil Piotrowicz and Igor Wiśniewski) band Opla (with Piotr Bukowski) Magneto (with Bartłomiej Tyciński and Piotr Domagalski) Zemiter (with Marcin Dymiter) Mitch & Mitch PROSZEK (with Oskar Dawicki, Piotr Adamski and Mikołaj Małek) Curator: Michał Mendyk – curator, producer, columnist and music journalist responsible for Zachęta’s sound program. photo: William S.
