The word “posełkini” is not a modern invention — it already appears in the 14th century, in the Florentine Psalter and in the Song of the Annunciation, where Mary says: “jam posełkini jego”. What today sounds modern or controversial was present in our language from its beginnings. The exhibition shows that the language of the Middle Ages was a living organism — full of emotions, fervour and everyday stories. In the manuscripts prayers and spells, learning and magic, tenderness and anger meet. - Kazania świętokrzyskie — the oldest Polish literary text - Psałterz floriański — a richly illuminated manuscript produced at the end of the 14th century for Queen Jadwiga - Several other books showing a panorama of medieval emotions — from prayers and devotional songs to spells and insults The exhibition is accompanied by sculptures by Sasza Wiktor inspired by the illuminations from the Psałterz floriański. You can also play in preview the games Scriptorium and Inkulinati from Yaza Games studio, which brought medieval miniatures from the margins of books to life. As part of the exhibition promotion, a medieval helpline has been launched. At the number (+48) 880 120 752 an automaton will answer questions about the exhibition and provide interested visitors with necessary information in a language inspired by Old Polish.
