    About the event

Zachęta – National Gallery of Art free admission Dates: - 27.02 Friday, 12:00–20:00 - 27.03 Friday, 12:00–20:00 The reading room is located at the level of the upper exhibition halls. Standing at the top of the main staircase, facing the Gladiator, head right and go to the end of the corridor. During the exhibition “Krystyna Wojtyna-Drouet. I do not exist for myself” we are reopening our archives and warmly invite you to get to know and explore the resources of Zachęta’s documentation department and library. Archivists will be on duty in the reading room, and carefully selected materials from our extensive archive will be available: photographs, press clippings, invitations, folders and catalogues, as well as unique documents acquired directly from the artists. At the exhibition, alongside the artist’s fabrics, objects documenting the artist’s workshop are also presented — dyeing recipes, fabrics showing unusual weaving techniques, a collection of homemade clothing, and archival materials from the artist’s studio. In 2025 we began work on organizing and systematizing the collection of archival materials belonging to Krystyna Wojtyna-Drouet. We worked in the artist’s studio, sorting and securing the collection. A substantial number of digital documents, photographs, folders and catalogues concerning her work were included in the documentation department’s holdings. Since 1962 Zachęta has continuously collected and made available documentation related to exhibitions and artistic phenomena in Poland. Our archive contains documentation of 2,318 exhibitions organized by Zachęta, as well as approximately 42,000 folders documenting artistic activity in Poland. We invite you to explore our holdings and to add to your own folders. photo: Kuba Celej
