    About the event

    We invite you to participate in the 5th Edition of the International Conference “Medicinal Plants in Science and Culture”. Plants and plant-derived medicines attract interest not only from natural science researchers but also from the humanities and social sciences. The conference refers to the efforts of Prof. Barbara Kuźnicka (Institute for the History of Science, Education and Technology, Polish Academy of Sciences) to combine experimental research (e.g., phytochemistry and pharmacology) with historical and social studies concerning herbal knowledge and herbal medicine. The conference is open to contributions from fields such as: - cultural anthropology - history of science - history of medicine - history of pharmacy - history of botany and archaeobotany - linguistics - pharmacognosy - pharmaceutical botany - agriculture - forestry - other disciplines Our goal is to create a platform for the exchange of ideas and an attempt to bring experimental sciences (e.g., phytochemistry and pharmacology) closer to historical and social research in the field of herbal studies and herbal medicine. The conference will take place on 22–26 May 2026. The conference program includes 15-minute talks in 6 sessions and a poster session. Deadline for submitting proposals for active participation: until 15 January 2026. We still have available spots. Deadline for online registration and payments is 19 May 2026.
