I invite you to a 2-day somatic workshop in Warsaw with Feldenkrais lessons, where we will increase mobility and take care of our health and well-being ourselves. Several lessons will focus on the eyes, several on the breath. Classes take place in a warm, cozy room in the city center. How? These are movement classes where I explain what position to take and what movement to perform. Each participant performs a given movement only as much as is easy for them — without physical effort and without pain, within their own current capabilities and comfort. Participants themselves look for the easiest and simplest way, without comparing themselves to others and without imitation. I suggest what to pay attention to and propose variants to try. Between movements there are breaks to rest and calmly integrate the last experiences. Each lesson, through a specific sequence of positions and movements, leads to improvement in some skill (e.g. getting up, reaching, turning, or walking), which can be noticed during and immediately after it. Direct results include, among others, a greater range of free movement, better posture, and increased ease of moving and breathing. In the workshop we will do about eight such lessons. There will be breaks between them, and after the breaks time for comments, questions and answers to better understand what we do and why. In this way we work as a group and draw on the individual experiences of participants. Each lesson can then be practiced at home — the workshop is an introduction to independent, regular practice. Preliminary schedule — around the eyes and breath: Saturday: Rest for the eyes Breathing lesson Eyes and imagination Breath depends on position Sunday: Eye relaxation Breath as an internal massage Breath and imagination On a strong voice Benefits: Relaxed muscles and relief — movement is gentle, unhurried, without ambition and without competing with others. Rest — we do a small movement, avoid exertion, while thinking about the movement and forgetting other matters. Focus and calm — we concentrate attention on the movement to find the easiest way; we develop the ability to sustain attention. Better coordination and fitness — we learn to move differently than usual, change habits, improve movement organization and body awareness. Pleasure — soft, effortless movement gives pleasant sensations and improves mood. Developed learning and adaptation abilities for changing and uncertain situations. For whom: Somatics is a method for anyone who wants to move better, develop or recover, regardless of age or physical condition. Classes are conducted without imitation, comparison with others or critical evaluation. Everyone performs movements independently, at their own pace, gently, paying attention to themselves, their sensations and current capabilities. At any time you can stop, take a break and rest.
