The screening of “Ashes and the Diamond” will inaugurate the recurring event “Wajda: re-visions. A review of Andrzej Wajda’s films on the 100th anniversary of his birth”. "Ashes and the Diamond" is one of the most famous films of Polish cinema. It tells the story of a young Home Army soldier torn between duty and the desire for a normal life, combining a romantic ethos with the drama of the “cursed soldiers”. After the screening there will be an intergenerational discussion: Barbara Hollender and Krzysztof Kwiatkowski. Tickets are available at the cinema box office and online for 15 zł: https://bit.ly/popioldiament For admirers of Andrzej Wajda’s work, Kino Kultura has prepared a loyalty program: watching at least seven films in the “Wajda: re-visions” series guarantees a reward — details coming soon. The screenings of “Wajda: re-visions” at Kino Kultura will be accompanied by discussions. Each will be a meeting of two distinct personalities and two different perspectives (intergenerational, methodological, sensory, or experiential). We want to ask about today’s reception of Andrzej Wajda’s work and compare it with the reception of these works at the time of their theatrical premieres. We care that in the Year of Wajda he is not only a “figure on a monument,” but a creator one can meet anew, argue with, marvel at, and pose questions to from today’s perspective.
