    About the event

As part of the next installment of the Polish Film Academy, we invite you to Kino Iluzjon for a special cycle in which we will discover the painterly DNA of Andrzej Wajda's work. The director abandoned the Academy of Fine Arts in favor of the Łódź Film School, yet painting never left his work. The frames of his films come alive with the paintings of Matejko, Malczewski, Wróblewski – the master of cinema transforms the canvases of great artists into moving, pulsating scenes. From February to June at Kino Iluzjon we will present 13 masterpieces by Wajda. During each meeting, renowned film scholars will guide viewers through film quotes, juxtaposing frames with original paintings: Wyspiański, Grottger, Gierymski, Hopper, Goya. Thanks to academic lectures, course participants will have the opportunity to see how Wajda built mood, symbolism and emotion through dialogue with painting. Schedule (Tuesdays, 5:00 PM): • 17 February — "Pokolenie", dir. Andrzej Wajda, 1954, 83 min. • 24 February — "Popiół i diament", dir. Andrzej Wajda, 1958, 97 min. • 3 March — "Lotna", dir.
